Andy Summers Tribute Fender Telecaster

September 28th, 2007

Fender Andy Summers TelecasterA beautiful guitar is being made available through Fender its a tribute guitar covering 1987 to 2007. Everyone has heard of Any Summers and his work in the hit band " The Police " along side sting. He has influenced many guitarists

Now the guitar is based off a ’61 Fender Telecaster that he played when he was in police its called the Andy Summers Telecaster Tribute Guitar

The Guitar

Something about this guitar, the warm, vintage look it has really makes it stand out. This one is a replica of his beat up 1961 guitar that had been modified originally by a previous owner

Andy said this about it

When I start to play it, something stirs within me ... it shakes me ... I find that I can’t stop playing it; this guitar sparks something in me and I have to have it.

He bought it originally for $200. Now it seems fender has decided to create 250 of these in a limited edition run through the custom shop which is part of the Fender Custom Shop Tribute Series and you can bet your ass you are getting a perfect replica of the 1961 axe.

Dennis Galuska developed it over an entire year, it has the same modifications that came when Andy bought it so here is a break down

  • Ferocious humbucking neck pickup.
Bridge pickup mounted in the body rather than in the broken brass (not chrome) bridge plate.
    Control plate-mounted mini-toggle phase switch.
Body-mounted preamp on/off mini-toggle switch (the original preamp "died," Galuszka said; the Custom Shop has recreated the Police-era preamp).
Rear-mounted overdrive unit controlled by a third knob below the two traditional Telecaster volume and tone controls.
    "Soft" brass bridge pieces.
    Schaller® tuners.

The body is made out of alder and the neck is maple.. it has a worn finish so yes you will get it with dents, dings and scratches. You will be able to get this in the third quarter of 2007
