Derek Trucks

Keeping with our 100 guitar blues players. Here is anotehr one that will be familiar with all of us blues folks.

Derek Trucks was born on June 8 1979 in Florida. He was first spotted back when he was online nine years old. He was playing with his uncle drummer butch trucks and by the age of twelve was playing alongside notable blues players like buddy guy.

He is know more now days through The Allman Brothers band, which he joined in 1999.

Now married to blues singer Susan Tedeschi, he continues to amaze audiences around the world with his unique and diverse approach to playing the blues.

  • What pure talent. Tone, phrasing… something that is all but lost in music today. Thanks for posting this!

  • I’ve been into Derek Trucks for a few years now and he never ceases to amaze me with his unique approach and sound. He just mixes together all of his influences (which seem to be many) and it comes out like everything and nothing that you’ve ever heard before, all at the same time. He was a great pleasure to experience live in a small club, everyone stood up to watch him every time he soloed. It looked like a room full of guitarists looking for tips from the master.
