February 29th, 2008
Ernie ball has come out with two brand new guitars to add to the family. These are the Albert Lee BFR and the John Petrucci Baritone BFR, so do a brief review or at least an overview of these axes and see what they have to offer and how much they will cost.
Albert Lee BFR - K It has pretty much all the standard feature you get with the Music Man classic yet this one is different in that it only weighs 6 pounds 11 ounces and its made from Ash and maple top with a nice Mahogany and maple neck. It uses custom RPS slinkys which are from 10 to 46 in guage. Its available in Pink and will cost you around $3500 dollars which is pretty steep, I think i will pass
Next you have..
John Petrucci Baritone BFR, this is a sleek looking guitar that has all the regular features but the scale is 27.5, it uses alder body with maple top and mahogany and rosewood neck, and it goes up to 24 frets.
It has installed for pickups DiMarzio Custom Humbuckers and one Di Marzio D -sonic in the bridge. The strings are 12 to 62 in guage tuned B flat to B Flat and well this is no chump change its going to set you back $4199.. pure green!
Colors for this one will be available in three here they are
- Tobacco Burst — an authentic sunburst of dark brown-to-yellow tones
- Emerald Burst — a deep green blending with lighter green accents
- Amethyst Burst — a rich purple with dynamic violet highlights
